Your privacy is sacred. This Privacy Policy describes how WalkRace collects, uses, and protects your personal data. Unlike most other applications on the market, our sole and absolute purpose is to help people move and have fun, not to monetize their private lives or sell their attention.

🛡️ Our Privacy Manifesto: People Are Not a Product

All of your data remains strictly and exclusively in our secure database. It will NEVER, under any circumstances, be sold, traded, rented, or shared with third parties. Our potential and future revenue comes solely and exclusively from the optional PRO (Premium) features that users freely choose to unlock. We will never send invasive marketing emails, run advertising trackers, or profile your habits to resell them. Your steps belong to you, and they always will.

1. Information We Collect

To provide you with our core features and the social gaming mechanics of WalkRace, we collect the following categories of information:

Registration Information: Username, full name (optional), email address, and profile picture (avatar) provided during account creation via our secure backend (Supabase).
Fitness Activity Data (HealthKit): With your explicit permission, WalkRace reads your daily step count from Apple HealthKit. This data is uploaded to our servers to calculate your progress rings, streaks, and positions on the leaderboards.
Social Content: Comments, chat messages, reactions ("likes"), and challenges created or accepted inside the application.
Location Data (Optional): If you choose to add your city to your profile, this information is used solely to include you in local and national leaderboards.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data to:

Provide the core step counting, leaderboard, and gamification services.
Generate and display standings (Friends, Local, National, and Global).
Manage 1v1 Duels and group challenges.
Send real-time push notifications (e.g., when a friend challenges you or overtakes you).
Prevent cheating, manipulation, or fraudulent spoofing of step data within the game.

3. Data Sharing and Overt Selling (Zero Tolerance Policy)

Your game activity details (such as your chosen username, accumulated daily steps, and standing ranks) are visible to other WalkRace users within the social leaderboards and activity feed to enable gameplay. If you prefer to walk in complete anonymity, you can toggle your profile to Private anytime in the app Settings to instantly hide yourself from all public rankings.

Selling & Trading Data: We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy against the commercialization of personal data. WalkRace NEVER shares, sells, rents, trades, or leases any personal or activity tracking information (including your email address, physical stats, Apple HealthKit logs, or contacts) with advertising networks, data brokers, sponsors, or any other third parties. Our database is a vault designed solely to support your daily steps gameplay. We don't even send promotional or marketing emails: we are here to keep you active and entertained, not to flood your inbox or monetize your life.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security protocols—including SSL encryption for data transmission and secure database hosting via Supabase—to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or needed to provide the service. You can request the complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (Settings section) or by contacting our support email.

Upon account deletion, all records relating to your email, password, historical steps, and duels will be permanently purged from our Supabase servers.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make substantial changes, we will notify you through an in-app alert or via email.
